  39.  Unlicensed copies of Wilson WindowWare products are 100% fully functional.
  40.  We make them this way so that you can have a real look at them, and then
  41.  decide whether they fit your needs or not.  Our entire business depends
  42.  on your honesty.  If you use it, we expect you to pay for it.  We feel
  43.  that if we treat you right, you will treat us right.

  45.  Unlicensed copies of our products do have a pesky registration reminder
  46.  screen that pops up whenever you start the program.  This shouldn't
  47.  really affect your evaluation of our software.

  50.  you will dig out your credit card, pick up the phone, call the nice
  51.  people at our 800 number and register the software.

  70.                HOW TO INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE
  71.  
  72.   Use our snazzy setup program...
  73.  
  74.         1) Close down all extraneous Windows applications.  
  75.            (You do have to be in Windows to run WSETUP.EXE)
  76.  
  77.         2) Double-Click on the WSETUP.EXE program.  (If you have the
  78.            WinCheck product in front of you, the setup program is still
  79.            called SETUP.EXE)
  80.  
  81.         3) When the setup program asks for a directory, specify initial 
  82.            directory, or accept the given default.
  83.  
  84.         4) When the screen comes up that asks you what you want to
  85.            install, do your selections, or just hit the INSTALL ALL
  86.            button.  Hit the OK button to continue.
  87.  
  88.  
  89.           ******************** MANUAL INSTALL *********************
  90.  
  91.       If you cannot use the snazzy setup program, and must do a manual
  92.       install.....good luck.  Basically installing our products without
  93.       going through the setup program is "unsupported", as installation
  94.       of Windows products does get tricky.  However as to not leave you
  95.       completely in the lurch....
  96.  
  97.       1) Most files to be installed by the installation program end in
  98.          an underscore "_".   The files might be compressed.
  99.  
  100.              If you received the files on a DISK, the probability is HIGH
  101.              that you must expand the files with our WEXPAND (see below)
  102.              program before use.
  103.  
  104.             If you received the files packaged in a ZIP file, the
  105.             probability is LOW. and you may simply rename the files to the
  106.             correct name.
  107.  
  108.          If you try to expand a file that was not compressed, the expand
  109.          program will NOT give an error message, and will NOT correctly
  110.          process the file.  In general, if the output from the expand
  111.          program is smaller than the file that went in, the expand program
  112.          should not be used.
  113.  
  114.          By examining the files with our Browser (possibly included with
  115.          the package) program, or basically any tool that allows you to
  116.          look at the file in hex, one can quickly learn how to determine
  117.          if the file is compressed or not.  If you can read *any* text
  118.          in the morass of funny looking symbols, the file is probably not
  119.          compressed.  If the characters seem completely random, the it
  120.          probably is compressed.
  121.  
  122.       2) The files (generally) must either be expanded into files with the
  123.          correct names, or must be renamed, prior to use.
  124.  
  125.       3) In general, the DLL files should go into your WINDOWS directory,
  126.          or else some directory mentioned in your DOS path statement.
  127.  
  128.       4) The BROWSER.EXE program may be used to view the *.MAN manual
  129.          files.  It is recommended that you put the BROWSER program in
  130.          the same directory you put the DLL files.
  131.  
  132.       5) You may want to add to the WIN.INI [Extensions] section the
  133.          following lines:
  134.  
  135.          MAN=BROWSER.EXE ^.MAN
  136.          HLP=WINHELP ^.HLP
  137.          WBT=WINBATCH.EXE ^.WBT

  140.          *** USING THE WEXPAND PROGRAM ***

  144.      The installation diskette is inserted into your A: floppy drive
  145.      
  146.      You wish to expand the WININFO.EX_ file.  At the DOS prompt type...

  150.      Make sure the output file (WININFO.EXE in this case) is LARGER than
  151.      the imput file (WININFO.EX_), otherwise the file was not compressed,
  152.      and should be renamed as follows:

  160.                     UN-INSTALL INFORMATION
  161.  
  162.  The snazzy setup program will create a DOS batch file - UNINSTAL.BAT
  163.  in the target directory that will un-install the product just installed.
  164.  
  165.  You may either review the batch file and perform a manual uninstall, or,
  166.  if you have not installed any products *after* installing this product,
  167.  go ahead and run the batch file.
  168.  
  169.  If you have installed several products before deciding to uninstall this,
  170.  the uninstall will *generally* work successfully.  The only problem that
  171.  occurs is when this product installs a file that the other products use.
  172.  
  173.  In general, this will only be a problem when you install several of our
  174.  products, and will be much less of a problem if you install products from
  175.  other vendors.  If problems occur, generally all that is required is to
  176.  re-install the product that is complaining about the lack of a file.
  177.  
  178.  A quick review of the uninstall bat file, deleting a line or two for files
  179.  you know are used by other products may be all that is required to
  180.  successfully run the uninstall.
  181.  
  182.  
  183.                     UPDATE POLICY
  184.  
  185.  It is the policy of Wilson WindowWare to protect faithful customers, and to
  186.  derive the majority of our income via sales to new customers rather than
  187.  continually attempting to extract more funds from existing customers.  Of
  188.  course we must at least cover our costs or we could not stay in business
  189.  bringing you new and updated software.
  190.  
  191.  Wilson WindowWare frequently updates it products.  There are various kinds
  192.  of updates, including Major updates, Minor updates, and bug-fix updates.
  193.  
  194.  Minor and bug-fix updates for our shareware products are free -- subject
  195.  only to our reasonable shipping and and handling charges for disks. As we
  196.  are not in the disk selling business, you may find that shareware vendors
  197.  specializing is disk sales can easily sell disks cheaper than we can.  On
  198.  the other hand, we *always* have the most recent versions of our software.
  199.  Our shipping and handling charges for update disks are as follows:
  200.  
  201.      10.00  US and Canada for the first product,
  202.       5.00  US and Canada for each additional product.
  203.       9.50  Surcharge for shipping outside of US and Canada.
  204.  
  205.  If you obtain a minor or bug-fix update from Compuserve or other online
  206.  service, a BBS, a shareware disk vendor or from another source, there is
  207.  no charge from us (of course you will have to pay the on-line service fees,
  208.  disk vendors fees, or at least pay your phone bill for downloading from
  209.  a BBS). In addition, you may use a single disk to update any number of
  210.  copies of a product.
  211.  
  212.  The policy and pricing for Major shareware updates vary.  Depending on the
  213.  nature of the upgrade, length of time since the previous major upgrade,
  214.  desirability of new features added, the extent of revisions to the printed
  215.  manuals (if any), work involved and possible price changes for new users,
  216.  we may or may not charge fees.  Since it is difficult to determine what the
  217.  cost of future major updates will be, and since we do not wish to commit 
  218.  ourselves to the uncertainty of the future, we have provided information on
  219.  the cost of major past updates here so that you can see our track record,
  220.  and possibly feel reassured about the future.

  270.  the latest and greatest downloads are available from DL15 of the
  271.  WINAPA forum.  The Wilson WindowWare section of the WINAPA forum
  272.  is checked on a daily basis, and all questions will be responded to.

  316.  SOFTWARE LICENSE

  318.  Wilson WindowWare software is not and has never been public domain
  319.  software, nor is it free software. 
  320.  
  321.  Non-licensed users are granted a limited license to use our
  322.  software on a 21-day trial basis for the purpose of determining
  323.  whether the software is suitable for their needs.  Any use
  324.  of our software, except for the initial 21-day trial, requires
  325.  registration.  The use of unlicensed copies of our software,
  326.  outside of the initial 21-day trial, by any person, business,
  327.  corporation, government agency or any other entity is
  328.  strictly prohibited. 
  329.  
  330.  A single user license permits a user to use one copy of the licensed
  331.  software product only on a single computer.  Licensed users may use
  332.  the program on different computers, but may not use the program
  333.  on more than one computer at the same time.
  334.  
  335.  No one may modify or patch any of our executable files in any way,
  336.  including but not limited to decompiling, disassembling, or otherwise
  337.  reverse engineering our software programs.
  338.  
  339.  A limited license is granted to copy and distribute our shareware
  340.  software only for the trial use of others, subject to the above
  341.  limitations, and also the following:

  343.   1)    The software must be copied in unmodified form, complete
  344.         with the file containing this license information.

  346.   2)    The full machine-readable documentation must be included
  347.         with each copy.

  349.   3)    Our software may not be distributed in conjunction with
  350.         any other product with out a specific license to do so
  351.         from Wilson WindowWare.

  353.   4)    Vending of our software products in retail stores (by
  354.         "shareware rack vendors") is specifically prohibited without
  355.         prior written authorization.  Written authorization will generally
  356.         require payment of a small royalty on each disk sold.

  358.   5)    No fee, charge, or other compensation may be requested or
  359.         accepted, except as authorized below:

  361.         A) Non-profit user groups may distribute copies of the our
  362.            products to their members, subject to the above conditions,
  363.            without specific permission.  Non-profit groups may collect
  364.            a disk duplication fee not to exceed five dollars.

  366.         B) Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (sysops)
  367.            may make our products available for downloading only as
  368.            long as the above conditions are met.  An overall or
  369.            time-dependent charge for the use of the bulletin board
  370.            system is permitted as long as there is not a specific
  371.            charge for the download of our software.

  373.         C) Mail-order vendors of shareware software approved by
  374.            the ASP may distribute our products, subject to the
  375.            above conditions, without specific permission.  Non-
  376.            approved vendors may distribute our products only after
  377.            obtaining written permission from Wilson WindowWare.
  378.            Such permission is usually granted.  Please write for
  379.            details (enclose your catalog).  Vendors may charge a
  380.            disk duplication and handling fee, which, when pro-rated
  381.            to each individual product, may not exceed eight dollars.

  384.   LIMITED WARRANTY

  386.   Wilson WindowWare guarantees your satisfaction with this
  387.   product for a period of 90 days from the date of original
  388.   purchase.  If you are unsatisfied with the product
  389.   within that time period, return the package in saleable
  390.   condition to the place of purchase for a full refund.
  391.  
  392.   Wilson WindowWare warrants that all disks provided are
  393.   free from defects in material and workmanship, assuming
  394.   normal use, for a period of 90 days from the date of
  395.   purchase.
  396.  
  397.   Wilson WindowWare warrants that the program will perform
  398.   in substantial compliance with the documentation supplied
  399.   with the software product.  If a significant defect in
  400.   the product is found, the purchaser may return the
  401.   product for a refund.  In no event will such a refund
  402.   exceed the purchase price of the product.

  404.   EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, WILSON WINDOWWARE DISCLAIMS ALL
